2006 National Fire Plan Grants Awarded to Countiesannounced March 30, 2006. The Idaho Department of Lands, in conjunction with the National Fire Plan Western States Wildland Urban Interface Grant Program, announced a total award of $651,000 to seven Idaho counties for hazardous fuels reduction work. Idaho Natonal Fire Plan Funding Trends: 2001-2006
Since the creation of the National Fire Plan in 2001, over $48.5 million in assistance has been awarded to Idaho's county governments, fire-based emergency services entities, tribes, and non-profit organizations in order to support hazardous fuels reduction work, improve the readiness and capacity of local fire districts, develop community planning efforts in order to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfire, and encourage economic uses for for small-diameter woody biomass.
