Len Diaz, USDI Bureau of Indian Affairs
Len is a Forester working since March 2006 as the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)/Prevention Specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Regional Office (NWRO). He works with the Coeur d’Alene, Nez Perce and Fort Hall Tribes. Prior to his current job, he was with the Forest Service for 29½ years. His last 13 years with the Forest Service were spent as the Westside Fire Management Officer of the Mt. Hood National Forest.
Other positions that Len occupied while in the Forest Service: Planning Assistant, Timber Management Assistant, Harvest Inspector, Presale Forester, Recreation Forester, NEPA writer, Logging Systems Analyst, Timber Stand Improvement Forester, and Reforestation Forester.
He is a Division Supervisor on a type 2 team - Washington Interagency Incident Management #4. The team works primarily on fire incidents but the team has been assigned to volcanoes and hurricanes.
Len has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Humboldt State University (1978). A certificate of completion - Forest Engineering Institute, Oregon State University (1982) and certificate of completion – Technical Fire Management, Colorado State University (2003).
