Lynn Borders, Idaho Fire Chiefs Association
Lynn Borders started his fire service career in 1978 after spending 8½ years as an accountant for Cominco American Inc. He served with the Post Falls Fire Protection District from 1978 until a consolidation with Kootenai County Fire Protection District #1 in October 2001. He worked his way up from volunteer firefighter to Fire Chief for Post Falls Fire Protection District, and then became Chief Officer of Administration with the new Kootenai County Fire & Rescue after the consolidation.
Chief Borders is currently contracted out to the Kootenai County EMS System as the Chief Officer. He attended Kinman Business University and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer program. He is also a certified K-9 handler for Calypso, his second accelerant detection canine in 13 years. He has been actively involved with fire investigations for 28 years.
Chief Borders is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, a member of the Idaho Fire Chiefs Association, a member of the Western Fire Chiefs Association, a member of the International Fire Chiefs Association, and serves on numerous local, state, and regional fire service and EMS committees. He has been married for 34 years and has two grown children.
